Living with knee osteoarthritis
Does not mean you are out of options.
Explore a joint-preserving treatment option.
If you’re living with painful knee osteoarthritis, everyday activities can become increasingly difficult. Walking, climbing stairs, working, exercising or simply enjoying time with family may no longer feel as easy as they once did. For many people, the real question isn’t whether they need treatment, but which option best fits their needs.
Do you recognize yourself?
- Walking and climbing stairs are becoming painful.
- Long distances are becoming a challenge.
- Sports or hobbies are no longer enjoyable.
- Current treatments no longer provide enough relief.
- You are 65 years or younger.
- You want to stay active and don’t feel ready for a knee replacement.
If several of these sound familiar, you’re not alone.
When current treatments are no longer enough
For most people, treatment begins with physiotherapy, exercise, pain medication, injections or lifestyle changes.
These approaches often help for a while.
But as osteoarthritis progresses, they may no longer provide enough relief. At that point, many people are told that knee replacement is the next step.
For some patients, that feels right.
For others, especially younger or active people, it feels too soon.
That’s where Knee Joint Distraction may offer another option.
Could there be another option?
KneeReviver: a joint-preserving treatment option.
KneeReviver® is used for Knee Joint Distraction, a joint-preserving treatment designed for selected patients with knee osteoarthritis.
The treatment temporarily unloads the knee while allowing you to remain mobile during treatment. For suitable patients, the treatment may help you:
✓ Keep your own knee
✓ Reduce pain
✓ Improve knee function
✓ Support your body’s natural repair processes
✓ Delay knee replacement
✓ Keep all future treatment options open
Is this treatment right for everyone?
Like any treatment, Knee Joint Distraction isn’t suitable for everyone.
During the six-week treatment period, the KneeReviver keeps your knee in a straight position. Although you’re encouraged to walk and remain mobile, your knee cannot bend while the frame is in place. Everyday activities such as sitting, dressing or getting into a car may require temporary adjustments.
Like any surgical procedure, Knee Joint Distraction also carries potential risks. Your orthopaedic surgeon will explain these and discuss whether this treatment is appropriate for your individual situation.
Could Knee Joint Distraction be right for you?
The best way to find out is by completing our short eligibility questionnaire.
It only takes a few minutes and helps determine whether you may match the general treatment criteria.
If you appear to be a suitable candidate, we’ll guide you through the next steps.
What happens next?
If your answers suggest Knee Joint Distraction may be suitable for you, we’ll help you take the next step.
You’ll be able to:
- Find a hospital near you
- Learn more about the treatment
- Read patient experiences
- Discuss your options with an experienced orthopaedic surgeon
